Australian Prime Minister chomps down on raw onion with the skin still on

He said it was better than any other onions he tasted for a long time…

ON A VISIT to a farm in Tasmania, Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott decided to sample some of the local fresh produce.

That all sounds fine until you find out he bit into a raw onion that still had the skin on it.

The Mercury reports Abbott was watching the grading of onions on a conveyor belt at the farm and just picked one up like an apple to take a bite.

“I may have said ‘it’s a shame they weren’t peeled’ and he just started eating it,” the farm owner said.

There were no tears in the leader’s eyes as he continued to chew on the raw onion (and skin) and he later said it was better than any other onions he’s tasted for a long time.
