THE COURTMACSHARRY RNLI lifeboat has been dispatched to help a 90 foot trawler said to be drifting around 50 kilometres off the Seven Heads Peninsula in West Cork.

A spokesperson for the Irish Coastguard said the vessel had reported engine trouble, and was being towed in to shore.

The RNLI vessel — which is an all-weather craft — was called out at around 10.40am this morning, after the alarm was raised.

The trawler was located at around 12.20pm and has now been taken in tow by the lifeboat, and RNLI spokesman said.

Both vessels are expected back into Kinsale at around 6pm this evening.

The trawler is an Irish fishing vessel, based in Cork.
