Two arrested over assault that killed Waterford Man
GARDAÍ IN WATERFORD investigating the murder of a man found dead in Waterford earlier earlier this week have arrested two men.
The men were arrested at around 10am this morning and are being held at Waterford Garda Station under Section 4 of Criminal Justice Act 1984.
The body of 22-year-old Martin Brophy, who lived in the city, was found at a vacant building on New Gate St on Monday evening.
A post-mortem carried out on his body by the Deputy State Pathologist, Dr Kahlid Jabbar, established that he had died of injuries consistent with those of a serious assault.
Gardaí have asked anyone with information on Brophy’s whereabouts from Saturday to Monday last, or anyone who noticed suspicious activity at New Gate Street, New Street, Brown’s Lane, John’s Lane, Castle Street or Parliament Street areas, to contact them.
