Two men due before in court after explosives seized in Dublin on Friday

TWO MEN ARE due to appear before a special sitting of the Special Criminal Court this evening after explosives were seized in Dublin on Friday.

The explosives were discovered at around 6pm after members a van was pulled over on Spring Garden Street in Ballybough in the inner city.

Gardaí say “a significant amount of suspected explosives were found”. Parts of Dublin’s north inner city was shut down following the discovery.

The men, aged 21 and 28, were arrested on Friday evening as part of an ongoing operation targeting dissident republican activity.

A third man, 55, was arrested later on Friday but he has been released without charge and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
