Poll: Should 'unhealthy' people be rejected as foster parents?

The Children’s Minister said the obesity of an applicant would have to be considered.

THE CHILDREN’S MINISTER James Reilly said yesterday the obesity of an applicant can not be ignored if they wish to be a foster parent.

Speaking in the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Health and Children the minister said the overall physical ability of a person to care for a child is considered.

Caring for children 

Reilly said health issues, like being overweight, could impact on a person’s application.
