Can't find the time to meet a nice cat? Well, now you can try speed dating

The Dublin Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals to hosting a Cat Speed Dating session tomorrow.

YEARS AGO, YOU would have been able to meet a perfectly nice cat either from the local village, through a friend, or maybe one that your mother set you up with.

In today’s busy world, many struggle to find the time to meet a feline friend. The DSPCA are looking to fix that ahead of Valentine’s Day with Speed Dating for Cats.

Part of Feline Friendly February, the charity’s Rathfarnham cattery is to be turned into a speed dating venue, where hopeful moggie owners can pick up a cat straight away without having to make an appointment.

However, the usual checks will be in place to ensure the person understands what care is needed.

The event takes place this Thursday from 12pm to 7pm at the DSPCA’s shelter in Rathfarnham. As many as 50 cats will be taking part in the speed dating.

A charge of €80 applies to adopt a cat, but this includes vaccination and neutering.

Here are some of the cats on offer. You can read their personal profiles on the DSPCA’s Facebook page.
