EARLIER TODAY we shared a video showing the people of Pyongyang grieving over the death of the country’s Supreme Leader, Kim Jong Il.

That video – produced by the Korean Central News Agency, and spread worldwide – prompted many viewers to suggest that the scenes had been choreographed by the totalitarian nation’s State-run media.

Here, to perhaps help you reach your own conclusions, is a similar video put together by the same news agencies in 1994 when the country’s founder Kim Il Sung – Jong Il’s own father – died back in 1994.

In a broadcast that began similarly to today’s, a sombre newsreader – dressed only in black – struggles to hold back the tears as she relays the news, before roving reporters share images of public grief.
