Facebook profile videos are now available so here's how to make one
New year, new you (in your profile).
BACK IN OCTOBER, Facebook announced that users would soon be able to change their profile picture from a normal image into a short looping video.
The feature has rolled out slowly, but it’s now available to iPhone users in Ireland (sorry Android users, but you will have to wait a little while longer).
Setting it up is a straightforward process so here’s what you need to do.
- Open the app and go into your profile (found under the more tab).
- Tap on your profile picture and choose either Take a new Profile Photo or Upload Video or Photo.
- Record your video with your phone’s front or rear camera. Profile videos can be no longer than seven seconds.
- In the editing section, you can shorten the video, choose a section (if you uploaded one) and choose to turn sound off.
- Pick a thumbnail – this will show on the newsfeed and your profile if someone has video autoplay turned off – and save it.
And that’s it. Now when you go into your profile, either on desktop or mobile, it will play. You will need to have video autoplay activated for it to work. If you don’t, you will only see the thumbnail.
