MET ÉIREANN HAVE issued a warning for heavy, thundery rainfall and possible flooding today and tonight, particularly in Munster and the south-east.

The status yellow alert will remain in place from now until tomorrow morning at 6am.

Heavy, thundery showers today and tonight may lead to localised flooding in Munster, Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford and Wicklow.
Totals of 25 mm to 35 mm are possible.

The rest of us can expect cloudy and misty conditions, with some heavy downpours, and highest temperatures of 16 to 20 degrees.

That thundery rain will very stubbornly stick around in Munster and Leinster overnight, with some patches of mist and fog.

It looks like Connacht and Ulster will get the best of it though.

Clear and dry conditions in the west and north tonight will spread by tomorrow to the rest of the country, and we can generally expect a dry and sunny Saturday afternoon.
