Is it summer yet? Well, not quite...

We’ll see temperatures reaching up to 18 degrees this week, but the clouds aren’t going away.

CAN WE THROW our warm clothes into the back of the wardrobe and break out the flip-flops?

Sadly, it looks like reports that summer was going to completely replace spring – or ‘winterspring’, as we have taken to calling it – this week were, well, a little premature.

According to Met Éireann, we’re in for a cloudy day today, and along with the lack of sun will come mist, fog and drizzle. However, there is hope of some bright or sunny spells, with temperatures ranging from 12 – 18 degrees, which isn’t bad at all.

Tonight, temperatures will drop to between 6 to 10 degrees, and it will be mostly cloudy.

Tomorrow, we can expect the same temperature range and the same clouds, and for the rest of the week temps will drop to 10 – 15 degrees from Wednesday on. Thursday promises some more sunny spells, but also showers over Ulster and Leinster.

So if you were planning on stocking up on the Factor 50 and fake tan, we’d advise not discarding your cardigan and umbrella just yet. Sigh.

Still, here’s hoping that things will start to improve as we move into June.
