THE BODY OF a man has been recovered from a slurry pit on a farm in the Whitechurch area of Co Cork.

The discovery was made on a farm in Rahaniskey shortly before 5pm this evening.

Gardaí from Gurranabraher and emergency services attended the scene.

The area has been sealed off as investigations continue.

The man’s body has been removed to Cork University Hospital where a post mortem is due to take place.

Formal identification is also set to take place tomorrow morning.

The coroner has been notified.

The outcome of the post mortem will dictate the nature of any Garda investigation. However at present it is understood that foul play is not believed to be a factor.
