FOR MOST OF us today is just a regular, slightly grey Thursday. Sigh.

For one jammy person though, today is a pretty good day.

There was one winner of last night’s giant €8.3 million Lotto, with the winning ticket sold in the mid-west. The larger-than-usual jackpot hadn’t been won in 46 days and had been rolling over since 22 January.

The odds on winning the Irish Lottery are 8,145,060 to 1.

One person matched five numbers plus the bonus, netting €25,000, while 39 people matched five numbers and won €1,696 for their trouble.

A spokesperson for the National Lottery said that – unsurprisingly – the big winner hasn’t yet been in touch but will have 90 days to claim their prize.
