'I'm a massive p***k': Woman sorry after being rescued from Britain's highest mountain with no hiking gear

A WOMAN HAD to be rescued from Britain’s highest mountain after a blizzard set in.

Sara Albone (28) from England said she decided to climb Ben Nevis on a whim while taking part in a mountain biking tour in Scotland.

Albone attempted to climb the 4,411ft peak on Saturday armed only with a selfie stick. She did not have the correct hiking gear and was wearing shorts.

She became disorientated and started to develop hypothermia.

Scottish newspaper the Daily Record reports that two male climbers reached the summit at around the same time and gave her extra clothes before another group of experienced climbers helped her down off the mountain.

A rescue helicopter could not be deployed because of thick cloud cover and high winds.

Louis Lander-Deacon, one of the climbers who found Albone, told The Guardian conditions on the mountain were “absolutely terrible”.

I am sure that if she had not bumped into us she might have died.

Albone has since taken to a climbing forum to apologise for her actions.

I’m so relieved you all got back ok. You’ll be pleased to hear I’m booking myself In for a mounterneering [sic] course as soon as I get back. Not only do I never ever want to put myself or anyone else in that sort of situation again – I also would like to be able to help someone the way you all helped me. You all put your own lives at risk to stay with me, and made sure I was ok and make sure that Ben Nevis wasn’t Ben Never. Though it very nearly was.

I don’t know what your respective local pubs are but let me know… I’d at least like to phone through and leave a drink behind the bar, having tried and failed yesterday at the Ben Nevis! Pretty sure this is obligatory when someone saves your life right?
