John McMahon – who was abused by social worker Ken Larmour over 50 years ago – secretly taped and confronted his attacker in the 1990s.
Larmour was a social worker and court clerk embroiled in the notorious Kincora Boys’ Home scandal in Belfast.
During the covertly recorded 1995 phone call with John he admitted to the abuse, describing it as "just one of those things".
Historic police files show that Larmour was once accused of orchestrating a false alibi to help get a suspected child killer acquitted of sexual abuse charges.

Commission to investigate historical sexual abuse allegations in schools
Minister for Education Helen McEntee announced the move this afternoon.
McEntee said schools where incidents of abuse took place "must" fund any future redress scheme for surviviors.
A five-year deadline has been set for the commission by the Government.
The commission will seek expressions of interest from people who wish to provide information soon.
