JAPAN HAS BEEN rattled by a strong aftershock and tsunami warning nearly a month after the northeastern coast was ravaged by a devastating earthquake and wave.

A Tsunami warning of up to two meters has been issued for a coastal area already struck by last month’s deluge.

Today’s quake measured 7.1 and hit 30 miles under the water off the coast of Miyagi prefecture. Last month’s earthquake was a 9.0 magnitude. It’s believed to have killed some 25,000 people and has sparked an ongoing at a nuclear power plant at Fukushima. Today’s quake struck 90 miles from there.

Buildings as far away as Tokyo shook for about a minute while in Ichinoseki, inland from Japan’s eastern coast, buildings shook violently and the power was cut.

The quake struck about 207 miles from Tokyo.

A Pacific Tsunami Warning Center evaluation of the quake said an oceanwide tsunami was not expected.
