Snizzly Snouts

This book promises to be a feast for the eyes, hands and ears

The book can be used by blind and visually-impaired children.

A NEW BOOK that blind children can use has been described as “a feast for the eyes, hands and ears”.

The book, Snizzly Snouts, isn’t just for the visually impaired or blind but is suitable for all children.

This video shows how a child who is blind would read the book:

Snizzly Snouts is written by Jan Dewitte from Belgium. He says the book makes children aware of the diversity in society:

Snizzly Snouts helps with language development and the animals in the poems have properties and characteristics that all children can associate themselves with.

The book has been translated from Dutch to English and can be bought online on the National Council for the Blind of Ireland site.

Lina Kouzi from the NCBI Library and Media Centre, says:

This book is filled with features which make it fully accessible to children with vision impairments. The same features give all children a chance to experience the book with their ears and fingers, as well as their eyes.
