1. #HIJACK: One man has been arrested after an airplane from Ethiopia was hijacked and forced to land in Switzerland early this morning. All passengers and crew on board are reported to be safe.

2. #TALLAGHT: A man in his 30s is being questioned by gardaí after being arrested in connection with the discovery of a woman’s body in a hotel room in Tallaght on Sunday. A post mortem on the victim, who was reportedly found tied up, is to be carried out today.

3. #POWER OUT: Almost 20,000 homes and businesses remain without power as repair crews continue to restore power following serious damage caused by storms last week. ESB Networks have warned children to stay away from fallen lines.

4. #SALARIES: Executives at the Rehab Group will meet today to decide whether or not to publicly reveal how much CEO Angela Kerins is paid. The Group has already been criticised for waiting too long to make a decision.

5. #PARTY ON GARTH: Homeowners living near Croke Park are to launch a coordinated campaign against plans to stage eight concerts  - including five by Garth Brooks – at the stadium this summer.

6. #HOSPITAL DEATHS: A report to be published by the Department of Health today will show significant differences in the mortality rates at hospitals around the country, RTE reports. However the Department has said the report should not be used to draw conclusions about quality of care.

7. #TEACHER SHORTAGE: School principals have warned that there could be a shortage of teachers in the coming years as the number of second-level students continues to increase.

8. #ASSAULT: The former editor of a major news magazine in India has been charged with the rape of a female colleague, the BBC reports. The case has dominated headlines in India in recent weeks.

9. #CONGRATS: Gravity and 12 Years a Slave were the big winners at the BAFTAs last night with the latter picking up the gong for Best Film. Philomena, the film about an Irish woman searching for her son, won the award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
