IT IS ONE of the most overused phrases of any election campaign, that a controversial issue is NOT coming up on the doorsteps.
But Gerry Adams seemed to be imploring either himself or others not to use such a phrase according to a note he wrote at a press conference to launch his party’s European election campaign earlier today.
Adams wrote down: ‘Don’t say it isn’t coming up on the doorsteps’ after the four MEP candidates were asked if his arrest last week was being asked by voters while they were out canvassing.
The Sinn Féin president spent four days in PSNI custody last week answering questions about the murder of Jean McConville over 40 years ago.
He was released without charge last Sunday and a file on the case is now being considered by the Public Prosecution Service in the North.
