Want to switch mobile networks? There's a new one on its way
It’s being set up by Carphone Warehouse, but it won’t be here till July 2015…

A NEW MOBILE operator is set to enter the Irish market, this time run by Carphone Warehouse.

It made the announcement today, saying that the service will launch in July 2015, and will be both flexible and innovative.

It is targeting 6% of the market within the first five years. It also said that it has made a €6-million investment in a new data centre to power its own mobile operator, which will launch in July 2015.

The data centre will officially open in Citywest, Dublin, in January, and will be supported by cutting-edge technology from globally renowned telecoms manufacturers, Huawei and Mvneco.

Peter Scott, Managing Director of Carphone Warehouse Ireland, said the significant investment “reflects the ambitious plans Carphone Warehouse has for our new mobile operator.”

He said that the move will lead to the creation of up to 50 full-time jobs, as well as indirect employment through indigenous partnerships.

Carphone Warehouse employs over 700 people.
