ENGLISH WRITER SAMUEL Johnson once described the Giant’s Causeway as “worth seeing, but not worth going to see.”
The Guinness Storehouse, along with Google, has now devised a clever way to get around this particular difficulty that faces would be visitors.
The visitor attraction has become one of the first in Ireland to use Google’s Business View – a tool that will allow users to tour the building from the comfort of their own homes.
The tour will cover all seven floors of the Storehouse including the Gravity Bar which boasts being the highest bar in Dublin, located 44 metres above the ground.
Last year more than 1.26 million people passed through the gate of the Guinness Storehouse making it the most popular visitor attraction in Ireland.
The company estimate that 13 million visitors have visited the Storehouse since it opened its doors in 2000 – of which around 93% are international.
Speaking about the new technology, Ed Parsons, Geospatial technologist at Google UK, said:
The processes that are involved inside the Guinness Storehouse are of interest to a wide range of people, in terms of their history, heritage and craft.
