THE RECENT NEWS that former Anglo Irish Bank CEO David Drumm is to appeal the decision to deny him bankruptcy on US soil can hardly have surprised many.
However, it seems Drumm is taking things to the next level in hiring one of Boston’s most high profile white collar criminal lawyers to represent him in his appeal, not to mention fighting any extradition charges that may be brought against him from Ireland.
Tracy Miner, a partner with Boston law firm Demeo, is routinely acknowledged as one of the leading criminal defence lawyers in Massachusetts, if not in the US as a whole.
Miner has achieved acquittals in her last nine criminal trials (over a space of more than ten years) before almost every facet of the American justice system imaginable.
The manner of crimes her recent clients were charged include:
All of which suggests Drumm’s case may be a bit of a doddle for her.
Six of Miner’s recent successes have come in Federal Court, i.e. trials at a national rather than state level.
Endorsements for her extraordinary ability are ten a penny.
“With the conviction rate in federal court over 90 percent for cases that go to trial, Tracy’s record of acquittals is truly extraordinary,” said Joe Hameline, head of litigation at Miner’s previous Boston firm Mintz Levin.
Time and again, she has proven her skills as a litigator in some of the toughest cases. Her track record speaks for itself.”
She is glowingly endorsed by a compatriot on lawyer-aggregation site avvo.com as being an ‘exceptional lawyer’.
Tracy is a fearless and relentless advocate. She is caring, compassionate and totally committed to her clients.
All in all, Miner sounds like a top class operator which is good news for Drumm.
The only potential blot to be found on her copybook is a 2013 charge against her for allegedly procuring alcohol for her underage daughter and her friends (however, all charges were dropped five days later).
