A MEETING OF Georgetown City Council in Texas was interrupted recently after the mayor went to the toilet in a bit too much of a hurry.
During a hearing on antibiotic resistance, Dale Ross handed the podium to City Councilwoman Rachel Jonrowe, before heading out the door.
She barely made it a minute into her speech, however, when it became audibly clear that the mayor had forgotten to switch off his microphone before answering the call of nature.
After days of perhaps understandable silence, Ross said today he wasn’t embarrassed by the incident, joking with the Austin American-Statesman newspaper that it was an example of his commitment to open and transparent government.
I think the average person can relate to this, that even the mayor — when nature calls — has to go.
