A MAN HAS been jailed for three months after being caught driving at 208km per hour on a road where the speed limit was 120km.
The 21-year-old was also fined €1,000 and disqualified from driving for four years, after being convicted of dangerous driving at Naas District Court recently.
In late January, the man was clocked speeding on the M7 motorway between Monasterevin and Kildare.
An Garda Síochána said the road was wet at the time, with “plenty of traffic”.
Gardaí released a statement about the conviction yesterday, saying a fixed charge penalty points notice was not an option in this case.
“[It] is probably one of the highest speeds the Naas Traffic Corps have come across,” the statement noted.
