DART SERVICES WHICH were delayed earlier due to flooding have begun to resume with some delays that are expected to ease.

Darts between Bray and Dún Laoghaire were cancelled after heavy rainfall caused difficulties, but have resumed again in the past hour.

There are long delays for road users in Co Meath, according to AA Roadwatch.

There’s heavy traffic on both ways on the N51 Navan/Drogheda Road approaching Slane: those delays are expected to worsen throughout the afternoon as Guns N’ Roses perform at Slane Castle tonight.

Although traffic is reportedly light around the city centre and moving well on the M50 according to AA Roadwatch, there are serious delays at Swiss Cottage at Santry, where traffic is reduced to one lane (reported at 1pm).

Yesterday, the Road Safety Authority warned motorists to take extra care on the roads today following a forecast of heavy rain.

Met Éireann has placed status yellow rainfall warnings in place for the following areas and times:

• Leinster, Cavan and Monaghan – Saturday from 3am until 3pm
• Connacht, Clare, Cork, Kerry, and Limerick – from 9pm this evening until 6am on Saturday
• Donegal – Saturday from past midnight until 6pm.
