Huge fire in London's iconic Camden Lock Market
More than 70 firefighters battled the fire.
MORE THAN 70 firefighters last night battled a huge fire in Camden Lock Market in London before bringing it under control.
The building that went on fire contained a number of businesses and they were damaged as well as number of different market stalls.
The fire damaged at least three floors of the building before it was brought under control just before 3am this morning.
London Fire Brigade said that it was first alerted to the blaze shortly before 12am last night received at least 37 emergency calls from members of the public.
During the peak of LFB’s operations last night there were more than 70 firefighters and ten fire engines attending the scene. A fire brigade helicopter was also involved in the operation.
“Crews worked hard to get the fire under control and to stop it from spreading to neighbouring buildings,” LFB station manager David Reid said this morning.
Crews from Kentish Town, Euston, Soho, Paddington, Holloway and surrounding fire stations were all involved the operation.
London Metropolitan Police were also at the scene and have said that the cause of the fire is not yet known.
