ENVIRONMENT MINISTER PHIL Hogan was at the ‘Household Charge Bureau’ in Dublin yesterday inspecting some of the many mail sacks that have come in over the last few days as the deadline for the €100 tax approaches.

Hogan’s visit came amid ongoing controversy over the charge which 467,000 people have registered for, leaving over one million still not having done so with the deadline just over a day away.

The Local Government Management Agency (LGMA) said on top of the €46.7 million raised so far, approximately €7.2 million worth of postal applications are on hand and to be processed. Hogan was looking at some of them yesterday:
