18-year-old found dead in Louth field named locally as Cameron Reilly

Gardaí are treating his death as murder after a post mortem revealed he died violently.

AN 18-YEAR-OLD found dead in Dunleer County Louth yesterday has been named locally as Cameron Reilly.

Gardaí are treating his death as murder and are appealing for information.

A post mortem carried out last night by deputy state pathologist Linda Mulligan at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda has confirmed that the 18-year-old man died “in violent circumstances”, a Garda spokesman said.

The man’s body had been discovered yesterday morning in a field at Shamrock Hill, Dunleer, in the Leinster county. His death was initially treated as being suspicious before being upgraded to a murder inquiry.

An examination of the crime scene in Dunleer is ongoing, while an incident room has been established at Drogheda Garda Station.

No arrests have yet been made.

Gardaí have appealed for information and in particular are calling on anyone who was in the vicinity of Shamrock Hill between 4pm on Friday afternoon and 8.30am on Saturday morning to contact them.
