THE LONDON 2012 Olympics have brought with them a mysteriously large amount of tattoo-related news.

We’ve already had the athlete who auctioned off part of his shoulder to the highest bidder, Examiner.com reports, apparently in protest at Olympic authorities’ tight branding laws.

And one quick-thinking company has manufactured temporary tattoos of flags around the world for fans who are patriotic but not quite that patriotic.

But the latest news is surely the most unfortunate. US-born woman Jerri Peterson was chosen as an Olympic torchbearer and decided to get a tattoo to commemorate her part in the historic occasion.

But the tattooist misspelled Olympic.

Luckily Peterson took her new status as Oylmpic Torch Bearer in good spirits. “I started laughing about it and I’ve laughed ever since,” she told the BBC.
