15,000 US fans expected into Dublin Airport ahead of Notre Dame, Navy game
The sold-out game kicks off on Saturday at the Aviva.

THE DUBLIN AIRPORT Authority says it is expecting some 15,000 visitors from the US to arrive at the airport over the next four days ahead of an American football game in Ireland’s capital.

Notre Dame is due to play the US Naval Academy in one of the first games of the American College Football season. The game, which kicks off at the Aviva Stadium at 2pm on Saturday afternoon, is already sold out.

Over 65 scheduled and chartered transatlantic flights are due to travel to Dublin Airport this week before the game, and more US visitors are expected to arrive in Ireland from other parts of Europe.

The game is being supported by The Gathering 2013 and organisers expect over 30,000 US visitors to come to Ireland to see the Notre Dame v Navy game.
