VIDEO: 6 key moments from the final 2012 US presidential debate
The debate focussed on foreign policy. Well, it was supposed to.

THE TWO CANDIDATES in the 2012 US presidential election sparred for the third and final time last night at Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida.

The showdown focused on issues of foreign policy but both Mitt Romney and Barack Obama tried to swing the topics back to domestic policy as often as moderator Bob Schieffer would allow. The tactic deployed by the campaigns was probably an astute one, given that what most voters care about right now is jobs and the economy.

However, most of the memorable moments from the 90 minute face-off were actually on-topic.

Romney tells Americans, “We can’t kill our way out of this mess…”

Obama gets a zinger in: “The 1980s are now calling and asking for their Foreign Policy back…”

Romney retorts…and borrows the ‘clear eyes’ slogan from Friday Night Lights again.

During an argument over spending on the US military, Obama says, “We also have fewer horses and bayonets…the question is not a game of Battleship.”

Romney accuses Obama’s administration of being weak

Obama says he did not make an apologist tour: “When I was a candidate for office, the first trip I took was to visit our troops. When I went to Israel as a candidate, I didn’t take donors. I didn’t attend fundraisers…”
