On the up: Aer Lingus passenger figures increase in March
Passenger figures increased by 4.3 per cent on March 2012, the airline has said.

AER LINGUS PASSENGER figures increased year on year in March, the airline has announced.

A total of 844,000 passengers flew with Aer Lingus last month, an increase of 4.3 per cent compared to March 2012.

The vast majority of passengers were on short haul flights, including Aer Lingus Regional, which runs commuter and regional flights by Aer Arann on behalf of Aer Lingus. Short haul passengers accounted for 761,000 passengers with long haul flights making up 83,000 passengers – both of which were an increase on the figures from March 2012.

A total of 87,000 people flew on Aer Lingus Regional, an increase of almost 20 per cent on this time one year ago.

Aer Lingus Regional yesterday said it is expanding its flights and will now be flying to Birmingham and Manchester from Dublin.
