# Best Job in the World
This Irish lad is after winning one of the best jobs in the world...
Dixon will be paid around €70,000 to work as an ‘outback adventurer’ in Australia’s Northern Territory.
OUT OF 45,000 people from 196 countries, Allan Dixon from Dublin has won Australia’s ‘Best Job in the World’ competition.
From thousands he was whittled down to 25, and has now become one of six people who have won a ‘best job in the world’ role.
Dixon will be paid $100,00 AUD, around €70,000, to work as an ’outback adventurer’ in Australia’s Northern Territory for six months (yes, they call that work!).
His duties include journeying through the outback, meeting the locals and discovering exciting adventures and he is set to start his new role between August and December this year.
To land the prize role, Dixon created a social media campaign getting people from all around the world to Tweet @Australia their messages of support. He also got media on his side and appeared on local and national radio and on TV.
He even managed to get Minister Jimmy Deenihan and Senator David Norris to do this:
Tourism Australia managing director Andrew McEvoy said he was blown away by the enthusiasm and effort the finalists had put into the competition. But said the “real winner is Australia – we’ve showcased our amazing experiences to the world.”
