TWO MEN ARE due in court in Naas this evening charged in connection with the burglary of a shop in Bunclody, Co Wexford earlier today.
The two men were part of a group of four who were in a car that was eventually stopped by gardaí on the Monread Road in Naas, Co Kildare at about 5am this morning.
A 38-year-old driver and one of the occupants of the car, 17, was arrested with two other men escaping on foot through the fields near the Monread Road/Monread Avenue area.
Gardaí found a large amount of cigarettes, a sledge hammer, angle grinder, two-way radios, jemmy bars and balaclavas in the car and the two men were detained at Newbridge Garda Station.
They are now due before a special sitting of Naas District Court this evening.
The arrests were made under Operation Fiacla, the gardaí’s operation aimed at tackling burglaries in Ireland.
