1. #LITHUANIA An Irish man who is accused of Real IRA gun-running to Lithuania is to face a retrial. Michael Campbell was originally sentenced to 12 years in prison but his conviction was overturned due to lack of evidence.

2. #TAXI Gardaí will be clamping down on rogue taxi drivers and hackneys as part of a national campaign this weekend. Unlicensed vehicles or drivers will be targeted, as well as those not fit for purpose or in breach of SPSV regulations.

3. #BANK OF IRELAND Bank of Ireland has struck a deal with Dublin-based Dilosk, for the transfer of €250m worth of mortgage loans. David Hall of the Irish Mortgage Holders Association commented that “anybody else in the mainstream banks won’t be able to sleep at night”.

4. #CLERICAL ABUSE Pope Francis is to meet with Irish abuse survivors for the first time next weekend. They will travel to the Vatican and meet him at the Vatican guesthouse, accompanied by survivors from other parts of the world.

5. #WORLD CUP Luis Suarez has been banned from “any football activity” for four months following an investigation into his biting of Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini. Suarez is even banned from entering any stadium in his home country of Uruguay.
