A MOTHER WHOSE six-year-old daughter was killed in the Aurora cinema massacre on 20 July – and who was critically injured herself – has suffered a miscarriage.

Ashley Moser’s family confirmed in a statement to local media yesterday that she is recovering from surgery but that the trauma had caused a miscarriage. The 25-year-old suffered wounds to the neck and abdomen in the shooting.

Moser’s daughter Veronica Moser-Sullivan was the youngest victim of the deadly attack, which occurred after midnight in the Colorado theatre during a showing of The Dark Knight Rises.

According to KKTV, plans to lay the young girl to rest are still pending.

Here is the full statement from the Moser family:

Ashley Moser is recovering from an additional surgery she had this morning. Tragically, the extreme trauma she sustained also caused a miscarriage.

We want to send a special thank you to the courageous HEROES of law enforcement, other first responders, paramedics, and doctors and nurses who have all gone beyond the call-of-duty in caring for our daughter, granddaughter and all of the other victims of this tragic event.

Our sincere appreciation goes out to all of those who have been sending well-wishes, prayers and good thoughts to Ashley. Her lifetime of care will be a long road. For those who wish to donate, please go to any Wells Fargo Bank and request the “Donation Account for Ashley and Veronica Moser”. This is the only official donation account for the family.

Funeral arrangements for Veronica are still pending.

Funeral masses for some of the 12 victims have been held this weekend across the US.

  • Another life ended and even more pain caused for this poor woman by a lunatic who hopefully will be made pay properly for what he’s done. RIP little one

  • It’s not a stupid comment but maybe it was some kind of a treat for the little one, she might have been a very grown up 6yr old who loved Batman movies.. I dunno but it’s irrelevant now .. the poor woman has lost 2 kids and could be paralysed.. You wouldn’t wish it on your worst enemy.. Poor thing..

    • what a grown up 6 yr old what are you talking about it having a treat well you can always see it at a decent hour and no one here is saying that they would wish it on there worst enemy it is extremely sad it should not of happened at all to many lives were taking by this man but a 6 yr should never be out at that time even for this so called treat or the love of batman

It was a special summer holiday treat, which that little girl and her poor mother had every right to enjoy. The only person who should not have been there that night was James Holmes.

    • first of all it is for 12 A film and secondly it was shown at midnight yes james holmes should not of been there and no one is saying he should but you say a summer treat for her 6 yr old would be going the next day i dont understand why come the summer children are out all hours of the night thats what the question was asked but we will never forget this poor child or her family her poor mother will never get over this if she survives it is sad and lets hope all the families effected in this shooting get justice and this man dies a painful slow death foe what he has done

  • It’s a 12A film which means anyone can see it but if they’re under twelve they need an adult with them, I’m sure it’s a similar rating in the US. RIP little Veronica and I hope her mother gets stronger. So sad

  • its possible that she brought her child knowing full well she^d fall asleep leaving mum to watch the movie in piece. its done quite a let and some cinema venues provide for it and expect it with baby and child showing for parents. so parents can bring babies and young kids and watch in piece with no judgement. this woman has lost two children. lets end this comments about why the child was there.

  • The 6 year old shouldn’t have been there Emma, granted, but let’s focus on the main issue here….one mother lost her beautiful six year old, unborn baby and is critical herself. The question of why this happened is far more important than why a six year old was in the cinema – there could be a plethora of reasons why she was there, justifiable reasons. There’s no justification in what happened to them.

  • such awful news, brought tears to my eyes. can’t even begin to imagine what that poor woman and her family are going through. i think that asking why the 6 year old girl was at the cinema at that hour is a question you Will never get an answer to nor should you in my opinion. that woman should never have to answer that question now because no matter what her reason was im sure she regrets ever having gone there in the first place. there are far worse things than bringing your child to the cinema at midnight in fairness.

  • was there a 3 month old baby injured in the shooting? I could have sworn I read about it the day after but nothing since

Goodness, Emma, were you never treated to little things like this during your youth? The midnight panto during Christmas? Staying up late to watch a movie with your parents? Your comments are completely irrelevant given the situation.

I am completely heartbroken for this woman. To lose one child is heartbreaking and traumatic. To lose two, I can’t even begin to imagine. My thoughts and prayers are with this family and the many others who have suffered as a result of this tragic event. Rest in peace little ones.

  • So sad, that poor woman can’t imagine her pain, regarding the comments about why a six year old was at a midnight show, possibly because of the holiday’s i notice abroad parents bring the Children to the pubs and clubs and they all have late mornings the next day, i personally never done that, but then when mine were little things were different, and i suppose they are not being left with baby sitters which has to be good, there are always two sides….

  • I think that’s irrelevant shinehead ! The little one was murdered in cold blood and her mam badly injured , why she was there in the first place makes no difference ! Stupid comment to make….

  • snide .attack.judgmental.irrelevant.etc. u can come up with all that from a question? clearly those words/comments are belonging to ye’re heads certainly not mine.i asked a question? i shouldn’t have to write an essay after asking a question? to ensure everyone realises i have a heart…interesting how people think it a nice treat though? ? thanks to ye who got my question and didn’t add legs of meanness to it

    • If I have to read this ridiculous comment one more time…

Tell me, is being shot by a lunatic a known risk at midnight screenings? And for 6-year-olds in particular? If not, this snide attack on the mother is absolutely, offensively, irrelevant.

    • first of all stephen no one is giving a snide remark or being offensive shinehead asked the question what was a 6 yr old doing at a movie on at midnight which i agree obviously not known to anyone that he would of start shooting at people but even you can not disagree that there is more danger out in the world at night than during the day and a child at that age should not be out and if you have looked at my post you would off seen that i said numerous of time s that it is extremely sad for this family and everyone else

    • One of the greatest pleasures I’ve had as a mother is doing ‘bold things’ with my kids, breaking a rule or two, going on ‘an adventure’ and hopefully teaching them, in a safe way, that sometimes it’s not just ok but a lot of fun to take a little walk on the wild side.

To that I have now and then, for example, taken one or other of them out of school for a day and gone ‘mitching’ to something that was on that interested them, or let them stay up really, really late on a school night to watch something special on TV, or taken them to an event that went on way past bedtime or to a place where kids don’t usually go. That kind of thing.

They are special times, they will remember them and I certainly will/do, particularly when it’s just one kid and me one our own.

This little girl was an only child, but soon would not be, which is a big change in a child’s life. She’d have remembered that exciting and special night with her mother for years, perhaps all her life.

So please, think before you come over all superior and start attacking a mother who certainly could never have anticipated that a fun adventure with her little girl would turn into such a terrible tragedy.

  • The really sad thing is that in America this poor soul is not considered a casualty! The number of people killed will stay at 12 because the child is not living until its born! Very sad indeed!

  • Strange, not a mention of god in any of the comments!? Oh right, I forgot… He only gets credit for lives SAVED by surgeons and doctors. A little Truth for you, there is no god! Nobodies watching! This is the only life you have so don’t waste it with your hands clasped in prayer, it means and does nothing!! Tell someone you love that you love them and do something COMPLETELY altruistic, without the fear of hell or any punishment and don’t forget this shocking tragedy next time you want to thank nothing for something.

We are nothing but star dust and to dust we shall return… Be life
