The photoshoot was arranged to promote both the competition and breast cancer awareness. However, it’s come in for criticism from some quarters, with former Miss Ireland Holly Carpenter telling the Herald she didn’t see how it was going to do anything to raise awareness.
The CEO of Miss Bikini told the paper the shoot wasn’t aligned to any charity, “it’s more to raise awareness than anything else”. Greg Ryan rejected criticism of the event, saying people were trying to put a negative twist onto “something that was good”.
We’re asking: Does the publicity generated by events like this help raise awareness?
