Claire Grady appointed editor of Evening Herald

Grady was appointed Executive Editor of the Evening Herald in 2006, and also spent 11 years as a staff reporter at the Irish Independent and Evening Herald.

CLAIRE GRADY HAS been appointed Editor of the Evening Herald with immediate effect, Independent Newspapers (Ireland) Ltd has announced.

Grady had previously been Executive Editor of the Evening Herald and prior to that had held the position of Assistant Editor.

Her career in journalism began with the Mayo News and the Connacht Telegraph, where she worked before becoming a staff reporter for the Tallaght Echo.

She then worked as a freelance reporter for Independent Newspapers before becoming a staff reporter for 11 years with the Irish Independent and the Evening Herald.

Following this, she joined the Sunday Tribune as a news reporter before being appointed that paper’s Deputy News Editor.

She rejoined Independent Newspapers in January, 2006 as Assistant News Editor with the Irish Independent. She was appointed Executive Editor of the Evening Herald in April, 2006.

The editor of the Irish Independent, Gerry O’Regan, retired recently and was replaced by Stephen Rae, who was the editor of the Evening Herald. Grady will now take over Rae’s role at the Evening Herald.
