YESTERDAY WAS A very trying day for Irish people.

Not only were our hopes for the Rugby World Cup dashed, but our one leading light in all this mess was extinguished.

Yes, after the disappointment of the rugby, the nation looked to Daniel O’Donnell to bring Ireland to glory on Strictly Come Dancing.

We hoped and we prayed… But unfortunately, it was not to be.

Wee Daniel and partner Kristina failed to impress both the audience and the judges with their Fly Me To The Moon routine, and were sent packing.

It was a blow too far for everyone at home.

What’s more, Joe McCaul (of Donna and Joe) was also booted out of the X Factor.

Can we really take much more of this?

From now on, the third Sunday in October shall be known as Black Sunday.

Fare the well Daniel. You did us proud.
