MICHAEL GALEOTA, WHO starred in Disney’s TV show The Jersey in the late-90s, was found dead at his home on Sunday, his family have confirmed.

Galeota was 31.

The Jersey ran for three seasons on The Disney Channel from 1999 to 2004 and told the story of a group of friends who discovered a jersey which allowed them to inhabit the bodies of professional sports stars.

It featured appearances by a plethora of US sports stars including Peyton Manning, Tony Hawk, Michael Strahan and Stephon Marbury.

Galeota’s family has launched a GoFundMe appeal to help pay for his funeral, calling him “loving, compassionate, joyful and intelligent”.

“A great inspiration for anyone that heard his genuine, humble, witty and joyful voice, or experienced his smile, laughter and love for just a moment. To know him was to love him.”

He and his younger brother starred in the Disney film The Clubhouse Detectives and he had parts in shows such as Ally McBeal and ER before being cast in The Jersey.

E News quotes the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office as saying Galeota had abdominal pain, hypertension, and high cholesterol and that the death appeared to be natural.
