Garda investigation launched after man's body discovered in Louth field

The body was discovered this morning.

GARDAÍ IN LOUTH are investigating the suspicious death of a man who was discovered in a field this morning.

The man was found in an area in Dunleer. It is understood he is in his 20s.

The State Pathologist has been called to the scene.

Gardaí said the results of the post-mortem will determine the course of the investigation. Sources have said that gardaí are treating the death as suspicious.

A garda spokesman said: “Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene this morning at approximately 8.45am. The man was pronounced dead a short time later.

“The State Pathologist Office has been notified and the scene is currently preserved. The body of the man will be removed later to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda where a post mortem examination is expected to be carried out later today.”
