Ireland has been voted the number four 'dream destination' for US tourists

We moved up five places since last year in a luxury travel magazine survey, beating France, South Africa and England.

A SURVEY OF almost 8,000 readers of a glossy travel magazine in the US has revealed that Ireland is one of their top ‘dream destinations‘.

The Emerald Isle placed fourth on the list, below Australia, Italy and New Zealand. France and South Africa took up fifth and sixth positions while our neighbouring country, England, ranked ninth.

The survey by Virtuoso Life magazine asked readers to reveal their ideal destination, travel experience and ultimate trip of a lifetime. The magazine is distributed through an elite group of travel agents specialising in luxury travel to their most affluent travellers. In last year’s survey Ireland came in ninth place.

Commenting in the news, Tourism Ireland’s CEO Niall Gibbons said that the US is an “extremely important tourism market” for Ireland and that he believes we are on course to achieve our best year ever from that market.

Since you’re already in Ireland, what’s your dream destination? Tell us in the comment below…
