Open thread: What's your best Croke Park memory?

GAA HQ has played host to some amazing moments over the years.

GAA HEADQUARTERS HAS played host to some amazing moments over the years.

But of course, over the years Croke Park has provided much more than just sporting moments. It has become witness to history in a much more diverse sense.

Remember the 6 Nations clash between Ireland and England in 2007? The build-up to this game was unlike anything seen in Irish sport before and it delivered a truly unforgettable moment for anyone lucky to be present.

As a thunderous rendition of Amhrán Na bhFiann rang around Croke Park, players like John Hayes and Jerry Flannery were visually moved.

What about 2003, when 75,000 people piled into Croke Park to officially open the Special Olympics World Summer Games – and Nelson Mandela made an appearance.

Or moving away from sport – were you one of the lucky 160,000 people that witnessed Ed Sheeran rock Croke Park for two nights in July? Glen Hansard joined him on stage for a special performance of The Auld Triangle, with a member of Kodaline even getting engaged in front of the massive crowd.
