WORLD’S END HOUSE was first built in 1750, but in the last decade it’s had a total transformation, as well as becoming home to a very familiar Irish face.

Comedian Pat Shortt, of D’Unbelievables and Killinascully fame, moved into the period property in 2005 along with his wife and three children. Almost immediately the couple began an extensive renovation process, almost doubling the size of the home and updating the features and fittings.

These days, the property has a total floor area of 530 sq metres with an intricate, architect-designed split-level layout, and it’s up for sale for €1.2m.

The property definitely lives up to its “World’s End” title. Situated on a secluded stretch of land overlooking the River Shannon, the four-bedroom home is surrounded by acres of forest, as well as its own manicured mature gardens.

On the lower ground level there’s a formal dining room, a professional Gaggenau fitted kitchen, a music room with bay windows, a drawing room and the master bedroom suite. Additional features include a home gym, a media centre, wet-room and steam room.

On the ground and upper levels are three more generous bedrooms, plus a library and a bathroom.

Outside, on a site covering 5.5 acres, there’s a three-bay garage, a tennis court, a southerly patio and a covered car port. With a lush tree-line and plenty of mature shrubbery, the land has been given just as much thought and care as the house itself.

The gardens run right down to the river’s edge, making World’s End a beautiful waterside retreat.

World’s End House, Castleconnell, Co Limerick is for sale for €1.2m with Sherry FitzGerald via Daft.ie.
