Pensioner (80) dies in Donegal house fire

The incident happened in the townland of Glaiseach Bheag.

AN 80-YEAR-OLD man was found dead in his home this afternoon after a fire in rural Donegal.

Firefighters attended the scene in the townland of Glaiseach Bheag at around 2.30pm. They were alerted to the blaze by a passerby who told the 999 operator that there was someone in the house.

Units from the Dungloe and Glenties areas were dispatched and discovered the body of an 80-year-old man inside. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigations are ongoing but it is believed that it was not suspicious.

A post-mortem will be carried out on the man at Letterkenny General Hospital.
