Man arrested after reports of shots fired at school in England

The school in Dorset was placed on lockdown.

ONE MAN HAS been arrested after a school in England was placed under lockdown amid reports that shots were fired at groundsmen.

Police were called to Highcliffe School in Dorset in south-west England at 12.06pm today.

The reports had said that an air rifle was fired at workmen who were near the school.

Dorset Police, including armed response units, carried out a search of the school, during which students and staff were kept inside and were not allowed to leave.

In a tweet, Dorset Police said that one man had been arrested on suspicion of firearm related offences near to the scene.

In a statement on the school’s website, a message from the headteacher says that students and parents should not be alarmed by what had happened.

No-one was injured in the incident.
