A CHILD’S HEAD has been found in the lagoon of a Chicago park as police search for the remains of a toddler whose body parts were discovered there on Saturday.

Police were called to the park on Saturday afternoon after a member of the public reported seeing what turned out to be a toddler’s left foot floating in the lagoon at Garfield Park.

A right food and a hand were subsequently found just 25 metres away. Police said the remains were badly decomposed but appeared to be those of a toddler.

Today Fox News reports a child’s head was also found yesterday in the water.

Police spokesperson Janel Sedevic told Associated Press that officers have recovered additional parts after investigators waded for hours through the shallow water. They also used a canine unit on the banks of the lagoon.

Authorities say the lagoon may have to be drained to ensure there are no other remains in it.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Officer said it is examining the remains.
