1. #ALEPPO: The UN says it has received credible reports of pro-government Syrian forces executing dozens of civilians, including women and children, as the battle for Aleppo nears its end.

2. #THE RENT: ‘Rent pressure zones’ are to be introduced in Dublin city and county and in Cork city, it was announced this afternoon. The measures will cap rent increases in the designated zones to 4% per year over a three year period.

3. #TRAGEDY: A man has died in a workplace accident in Co Sligo. The man, who was in his 30s, was working on a windfarm at Ballyfarnon when he was injured at around 6.30pm yesterday evening.

4. #TOP DIPLOMAT: Exxon Mobil’s chief Rex Tillerson has been announced as Donald Trump’s pick for secretary of state. The US president-elect also held a meeting with Kanye West today.

5. #OUR FRIEND FROM THE NORTH: Back home, our own President also greeted a special visitor at the Áras.
