Burglar woke up elderly woman to steal her jewellery

Police in South Belfast said the elderly woman had her wedding ring and two gold necklaces – which she was wearing – stolen.

AN ELDERLY WOMAN in South Belfast had her jewellery stolen by a burglar who woke her up in the early hours of this morning.

Police in South Belfast received a report just before 11.15 am today that an elderly female, living in the Donnybrook Street area, had been the victim of a burglary in the early hours of the morning.

The woman was woken from her sleep by a man who removed two gold rings from her wedding finger and two gold necklaces from around her neck.

Police are investigating and are appealing to anyone who may have information relating to the incident to contact detectives at Musgrave Police Station on 0845 600 8000. Information can be provided anonymously by ringing independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Anyone who may have been offered gold rings or necklaces for sale in suspicious circumstances today, please contact detectives at Musgrave Police station on 0845 600 8000.
