Court for two arrested after drugs seizure

The men were arrested following a planned operation in Co Kildare and Dublin yesterday.

TWO MEN WHO were arrested yesterday following a planned operation that uncovered cannabis herb appeared in court today.

Yesterday, gardaí arrested three males and seized drugs with an estimated street value of up to €1.8 million following a planned operation in Co Kildare and Dublin.

Gardaí from the Garda National Drugs Unit, assisted by officers from the Organised Crime Unit, searched a van and a car in Castlewarden, Co Kildare.

They seized cannabis herb with an estimated street value of up to €600,000 (pending analysis). Three males, aged 31, 40 and 50 years, were arrested at the scene.

In a follow-up search of a business premises in the Cookstown area of Tallaght, gardaí said a further quantity of cannabis herb with an estimated street value of up to €1.2 million (pending analysis) was discovered.

One of the men was released last night, and the two remaining men appeared in the Criminal Courts of Justice at 4pm today. They were charged under section 3 and 5 of the Misuse of Drugs Act.

They were remanded back to Blanchardstown District Court on 8 March.
