FOUR CHILDREN AND three adults were injured in a road traffic collision on Thursday, leading gardaí to appeal for witnesses to the incident.
Gardaí in Longford said today that they are appealing for information from the public on the serious collision.
They said that at approximately 1.20pm, three adults and four children were injured when the car they were travelling in left the road and collided with a wall on the R392 at Terlicken, Ballymahon.
The occupants of the car were taken by ambulance to Mullingar Hospital following the crash.
A two-year-old boy travelling in the car was seriously injured and has since been brought to Temple St Hospital. A female passenger in her 30s remains in Mullingar Hospital with non life threatening injuries. All of the other passengers have since been discharged from the hospital.
The scene of the crash was examined by Garda forensic collision investigators and gardaí are now appealing for witnesses.
Gardaí are particularly appealing to anybody travelling on the R392 between Ballymahon and Lanesborough on Thursday 14 February between 1pm and 1.45pm hours to contact them.
